If you could go one place...

A friend offered us a $600 airfare voucher through US Airways last night. We're still working out the details but we'd like to use it.

Problem: where to go? (Oh, and we have to decide by March 27th.)

So I appeal to you, my readers. If you could go anywhere for a week or even a weekend, where would it be? (Keep in mind that we still have to pay for 1 ticket and any potential hotel or rental car expenses.)

Thanks for your suggestions!

You have probably already been to every place in the U.S. that I would want to go. :-)
I haven't been to the east coast so I would probably go to N.Y. or D.C.

Charlotte. Savannah. Roswell. Yakima. St. Louis. Cheyenne. Hot Springs.
I've only been to St. Louis, and that was when I was pretty young, so I barely remember touring the Arch.
I guess I would stay away from big cities and go somewhere quiet, homey, and relaxing.
Oh, and I've only flown once (and that was to Chicago) since 9/11. How sad.

"I'll tell you where. Someplace warm. A place where the beer flows like wine. Where beautiful women instinctively flock like the salmon of Capistrano. I'm talking about a little place called Aspen."

I agree with the one about beer and wine. It doesnt have to be Aspen, but beer and wine sounds good. :)

James, I've been to every state but my wife hasn't, and besides, I haven't been to every place in every state!

Kandi, a few of those came up last night. Some great spots there! I'm not usually much for flying either. I'm more of a road tripper.

Lloyd, great quote! I forgot about that quote.

If you haven't been there, Savannah, Hilton Head, Charleston. So beautiful there this time of year and you can fly in and out of Atlanta, rent a car and road trip it the rest of the way. Plus it has a little bit of everything...lots to see and do, great food, wonderful history and the ocean!

Julia, I'm not into wine but still wouldn't mind a trip through Napa. The Bay Area is one of my favorite places in the country.

Kris, We've been to Savannah and Charleston but love that area and would gladly return. Flights directly to Charleston are usually pretty cheap too. I haven't done Hilton Head, though I'm told I should.

I guess I'm just cheap, but I would look at the deals on the airline's website, since I would have to pay for the other ticket. Then I would decide which of those cities tickles my fancy. And my fancy would be tickled by the warmest of those cities, I think.

I know you're probably looking for relaxing, but I suggest Florida to Disney World. It's fun and a great experience and it doesn't have to be expensive. You can tour the world at Epcot! Always fun! Or white water rafting in Tennessee is always a great! Chatanooga was one of the best family vacations we ever took.

If I got that offer, we would be haeding somewhere warm. We could use some warm sunshine at this house.

We stayed on Folly Beach near Charleston a few years ago and LOVED it!

If you come to Savannah, you have a place to stay. Our home is always open to the White family. I don;t know if you remember me, but Keith lived with us while he was here a few summers ago. I have
been praying for you and your family the past few weeks.

Let me know if Savannah is the choice!

If you want to maximize your dollars and the plane ticket you have to pay for is reasonable, I don't think you could beat DC or NYC as destinations on the cheap. Just about everything in DC has free admisson, its a beautiful, walkable city and the cherry blossoms are probably blooming. NYC has cheap transportation with a metro card, and again, just walking around is entertainment enough, and you can eat an incredible slice of pizza or kabob for notta lotta of dough.
