Wide White: June 2007

My wife and I just got back from a vacation to Yosemite National Park in California. On our last night, at 12:23 AM, I experienced my first earthquake. I suppose a 4.6 is light by Californians' standards, but if you ask me, the ground rumbling and everything shaking for 5-10 seconds isn't exactly light!

You can see the USGS information on the quake by clicking here.

I also found some information here on a blog that tracks earthquakes. From what I can tell, 4.6 is pretty big for that area (their last quake over 5.0 came 8 years ago). There have been at least 160 aftershocks to the 4.6 that we felt, including 3 that were 3.0 and bigger.
