"snot-nosed political neophyte"

That's the latest insult thrown at me. It was actually in writing too. The last insult in writing had been an email that said simply, "You're a jerk." I'd say they're increasing in their insultishness.

Of course, verbal insults over the last month have included "punky little snot" (what's with the snot?) and "prick." But then, when someone has bonafide mental health issues (as did the person who launched three of these insults), how seriously do you take them?

Or how about newspaper editors?

Ohmystars! Did you, when you got this job ever imagine you would have to endure such childishness? If I can throw my two cents in, for someone who "keeps his nose clean" such as yourself, snot-nose is just not apropos. Now punk on the other hand...

Oh and by the way, if you want someone who can cuss the bowtie off a sailor, I know someone...you just say the word.

Thanks Kristi, but I'm not interested in cussing anyone out. I haven't cussed any of these people out and I'm not about to start. It makes me sad. I don't know what makes people say things like this about other human beings.

But then, I've got enough post history that I'm sure I have a post somewhere where I got worked up enough to say some stupid things about someone too. There's the argument that when you put yourself in public service, you're setting yourself up for it. I suppose there's some truth to that.

Still, I can't believe the things people will say both to your face and in writing just because they disagree with your political opinion.

And to "anonymous," I'm sorry. I'm guessing you're ::Nic::, and while I have no idea why you're still subscribed to my blog through Bloglines, I hope you know that I really do enjoy hearing an intelligent opinion from the other side.

Now, ripping into something my mom says...that's a bit of a different story. Take me out, not a problem. Guess I get a little defensive when it's my mom though.

(And by the way, I've seen worse before...an online group was actually started about a year ago called "Joey _____ is a complete douchebag!" Those are the days you wonder why you ever ventured into the political realm....)

I am impressed Joey I live to be called things like that lol

If they are stooping to that level instead of countering your argument your winning the debate.

Actually, ::Nic:: would have signed it ::Nic:: since he's no coward. I'm most likely the bloglines subscriber you speak of, and Nic is a friend of mine. I send him stuff I see when I want to know what his opinion is. He only commented again when I said you'd replied. He has most likely not seen this post because he hates blogs.

I'll let him know you called him intelligent (or were you implying he was unintelligent?), though he was really hoping you'd carry on more of a dialogue. I guess, though, if you don't want people to comment "negatively" about something your mom has said, I wouldn't post it.

I believe the worst he's called you is a "stupid republican" but that's what he calls all republicans, so that's nothing special or personal.

No Chelsey, I wasn't implying he was unintelligent at all.

As far as dialogue, I'm all for it. I'm just not for someone coming in trying to change my mind, and I won't try to change his. When someone comes in and insults my (or my mom's) intelligence, why carry on dialogue with them?

Regarding "stupid Republican," that's fine. I've been called far worse. :)

I have been called a "racist", "bigot" and a "fascist". I was told that it meant I had "arrived". Hey, at least people are reading, right? :)
