TWINS!?!?!

We had our first ultrasound yesterday.

Yes, those are TWO heads...TWO babies!!

(There are better ultrasound pictures of the babies' profiles, feet, etc., but this was the best for seeing both babies at the same time.)

We only picked up one heartbeat in both appointments prior to the ultrasound.

The guy doing the ultrasound joked, "Maybe we'll find twins!" 60 seconds later a grin spread across his face and he asked, "How many hearts do you guys see beating?"

We laughed, we cried tears of joy, and we laughed and laughed and laughed some more.

We are absolutely ecstatic about it and can honestly say we are possibly more excited now than we were 4 months ago when we first found out we were pregnant!

For those wondering, they are in separate placentas and the babies couldn't be looking any better!

We don't know if they're identical or fraternal and we don't know the genders. We still don't think we want to find out ahead of time either.

Thanks to all of you for your thoughts, prayers, and encouragement. We need it far more than we know!

Ok you just made me cry this morning - that's so insanely wonderful! Please give Jamie a hug from me and she can do the same to you if she wants.

Now then. Let's square away something. I've always wanted to be a great-auntie to twins. When do I get to babysit?

Love you guys!

I am SO ready to be a Grandma!!

We just realized, Joey, that you'll be the last one in the family to be an uncle/aunt. Ellen or Chet will be first, depending on whether Daniel's sister delivers before Chet gets married. She's due Dec. 30, he marries into nieces and nephews on Jan. 1.

Ha! I just saw my post...with my pictures. I guess I should say, "I so don't look like I'm ready to be a grandma!"

Babysitters: you mean you're volunteering Katie!? Please recruit more like you!

Last to be uncle/aunt...can't say I'm too heartbroken about that title. "First to be parent" would have to be significant for "first to be uncle" to matter... That is a pretty funny thought though!

Oh wow...it's still all sinking in. We went to Babys R Us tonight and looked at double strollers. There aren't many out there. This whole thing is getting very expensive very, very quickly! Oh boy...

And thanks Wendy, Keelie, Carla and Amber for the encouragement and excitement with us. We've been so blessed by the outpouring of support for us from all corners of our lives!

Expensive yes....but it shouldn't be right away...that's what baby showers are for!!! So, who's giving them and when are you having them?!:)

I have a double stroller for you.

Blogger Jamie declared,

Wow, thanks Carla! We just may take you up on that! Joey and I just started looking at strollers and are trying to figure that mess out... here is the latest in our debate:

Getting an inline stroller that two carriers can fit into and be used later seems like the most practical option, but they also get many complaints for maneuverability, weight and size...

Getting an inline stroller that is just a frame for carriers seems nice, since they are really light weight and compact. Parents of multiples rave about these, but then you've got to buy another stroller when they are no longer in their carriers...

Getting a double wide jogger that works for infants too. We found one we love, but then you lose the convenience of keeping them in their carriers...

I've heard good and bad things about all three options and of course, each kid/family is different :)

What has been your experience with the double strollers?

Blogger Carla declared,

Ours is a hand me down from the Roby's. :) Inline. Great shape. Perfect for the MN State Fair! Loved it!! The double wides do not fit through too many doors.
I think you are right about the carseat ones. You outgrow them so fast. They never appealed to me. And one must remember the length of Stroller Season in God's Country.

Blogger Joey declared,

Sorry, I don't think we ever responded to you Carla! I was all ready to take you up on the stroller and then we wound up getting two car seats through someone on Craigslist and they came with a double stroller, so I think we're set in that department. It's so weird to start accumulating baby stuff...

Oh, I am so glad you found one!! Yes, the gear shopping can be overwhelming and expensive. Stick with the basics. Well, two of everything considered basic. :)
I am so excited for you guys!

I know I'm late to this party, but congrats and WOW! I honestly can't imagine it. Our one son is kicking my butt, having two would take God sized miracles and grace, and 5-Hour Energy by the case!!!

Thanks! I have no doubt we will be drawing from all of the above!
