My Presidential Prediction

Republican nominee: Rudy Giuliani

Democratic nominee: Barack Obama

Election Day results:

Rudy Giuliani, 51%
Barack Obama, 42%
Jim Gilchrist, 7%

The conservatives' glory years are over. Abortion is still legal and more conservatives are realizing that. Bill Clinton did not take our guns away and more conservatives are realizing that. In short, more conservatives are less conservative.

I give Gilchrist, the founder of the Minuteman Project, which seeks to put civilians on the Mexican border to curb illegal immigration, 7% because I think there are enough conservatives who will be unwilling to vote for Giuliani, who is publicly a social liberal. I think a number of conservatives will vote for Giuliani as a better choice than Obama, but there will be a number - just as the liberals who voted for Ralph Nader in 2000 - who won't give in and will choose someone more conservative. Gilchrist doesn't have a chance, but he probably has more name recognition than any other third party or independent candidate - certainly than any other conservative third party or independent candidate.

I'm not excited about the race this year. However, I will follow it. I'll keep a running list of all candidates running in the right column of this blog. They are listed in order of who I think has the best chance to win.

Come back for more if you're interested in my take on '08.

I am reluctantly coming around to the idea that Giuliani may get the Republican nomination, but I think Hillary will still get the nod from the demo's. The reason on both sides is that both sides want to win (and I think it's sad to give up principles just to win).

Joey, it would be VERY COOL if you would keep us laymen posted on the election. It gets very confusing and overwhelming. I WILL come back for more on the election. Thanks for sharing your ideas and opinions with us! I learn a lot from your blog.

If Giuliani gets that nod there will be a Republican earthquake. 9.5 or 2. 5 on the scale we'll have to see but there is a big enough group that won't for for a anti-life candidate that Republicans will face a defection.

Count me in as never voting Giuliani.
